Backyard today

American Redstart flitting about in the shrubbery this morning, flycatching. The underwing was very dark orange, with the wing and tail colors more yellowy.

We saw a female redstart (aka "yellowstart") in the yard this week, as well as a young male rose-breasted grosbeak, a female purple finch, a hermit thrush, and a red-eyed vireo. Things are getting interesting now that fall is finally here!
